The signature of the Association Agreement with the EU is a new start for Moldova, a broad roadmap for modernization, with clear stages and particular commitments that will help remedy the system problems faced by the country, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said in the public debate “Moldova’s road to Europe. What’s next?” that was held in Brussels, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
“We are determined to acquire the dignity of a democratic liberal state with modern institutions, separated powers, the rule of law, entrepreneurial freedom, justice and social equity,” said the Premier.
Iurie Leanca enumerated also Moldova’s priorities, which include the internal reforms aimed at fighting corruption in the courts of law, the prosecution service and the business community. He also spoke about the development program Moldova-2020 that contains a set of reforms designed to make Moldova an EU member state.
“These reforms mean a future for Moldova, which will thus meet people’s expectations. We want the people to feel that their life improves daily and that they have more economic possibilities and access to infrastructure of a high quality,” said Iurie Leanca.
The event involved dozens of representatives of civil society, the academic community, European institutions and of the diplomatic corps working in Brussels.
Iurie Leanca and other members of the Government are in Brussels, where Moldova will sign the Association Agreement with the EU today, June 27.
