Joe Biden: Moldova belongs to Europe

“The Republic of Moldova is an European country and it should become a EU member because it belongs there”, declared US Vice President Joe Biden at a joint briefing with Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat in Chisinau on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports. Joe Biden said that his – as well as President Barack Obama's – message for Moldova was that the United States further remained a reliable partner for our country. The American vice president said that his discussion with Vlad Filat before the briefing included issues related to the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, Moldova's EU aspirations and economic reform. Vlad Filat stated for his part that Joe Biden's visit marked a new stage in strengthening Moldova's democracy. “We had discussions about bilateral relations. We also talked about reforms and European integration. I have received assurances that the United States will remain sincere and supportive of Moldova”. The Moldovan premier added that other issues discussed included economic relations and the United States' assistance in the Transnistrian settlement talks.
