The implementation of the agreement on joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border will contribute to ensuring security at the state border and to fostering transfrontier cooperation, said Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who welcomed the ratification of the document by the Supreme Rada of Kiev in a meeting with the Ukrainian Speaker Andriy Parubiy, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the Premier noted that the successful achievement of the set objectives, among which is the joint Moldovan-Ukrainian control at the border crossing point “Cuciurgan-Pervomaisc”, is due to the ascending political dialogue between the two states. Pavel Filip underlined the necessity of continuing maintaining direct contacts at all levels so as to promptly solve the problems and ensure the European integration of the two states.

Speaking about the cooperation priorities for the immediate period, the interlocutors stressed the necessity of protecting the information sphere from foreign propaganda, finishing the process of demarcating the state border and of recognizing the Moldovan property on the territory of Ukraine. In this regard, the interlocutors confirmed the commitment for identifying mutually advantageous solutions and achieving the set of objectives for the benefit of the citizens of the two states.

In another meeting, Pavel Filip and the Parliament Speaker of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze ascertained that the dialogue between the two states, both at parliamentary level and at governmental one, has intensified. Special attention is devoted to the cooperation in education, culture and tourism. Pavel Filip affirmed Moldova’s interest in learning from Georgia’s experience in reforming justice, attracting foreign investors and tourists, while Irakli Kobakhidze said Moldova and Georgia face similar problems and challenges, but have a well-defined goal – to become part of the EU – and the support at bilateral level and within international organization is very important in achieving this goal.

In the first half of this year, the Prime Minister of Georgia Ghiorghi Kvirikașvili is to pay a visit to Moldova. On this occasion, a new meeting of the intergovernmental commission for commercial-economic cooperation was scheduled.
