A judge of the Buiucani Court of Chisinau was fined 8,000 lei and banned from holding posts in the judiciary system and the law enforcement bodies for five years. He was thus penalized for examining a case without being physically present at the hearing, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the prosecutors, the judge signed the proceedings of the March 20, 2012 hearing, which de facto didn’t take place as the judge was at the Supreme Council of Magistrates at that moment. The proceedings contained untrue information about the presence of the participants in the hearing, including of the judge and the defendant, the hour when the hearing started and other false data. At the request of the prosecutor general, the judge was suspended temporarily.
The prosecutors also accused the judge of exceeding his authority, but the Buiucani Court acquitted him on this count. The decision will be challenged in a higher court. The name of the judge was not made public.
