Judge Ion Muruianu is leaving the system in which he worked since 1990. The Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) on September 7 accepted the resignation that he tendered for the reason that he reached the age limit, IPN reports.

“Mister Muruianu started work in 1990. In 2000, he was named judge to serve up to the age limit. Since 2003 until 2012, he worked as a judge, including as president of the Supreme Court of Justice. By the President’s decree of December 2012, he was transferred to the Chisinau City Appeals Court to serve as a judge,” said the acting president of SCM Dorel Mustață.

Ion Muruianu attracted public attention in 2010, when he tried to shift full responsibility for the mistakes made by the judiciary in Moldova on journalists, whom he named ‘rabid dogs that are dangerous to society’.

Also today, the Superior Council of Magistracy accepted the resignations from the post of judge presented by Oleg Ciumaș, of the Bălți Court, and Mihail Macar, of the Hâncești Court.

The SCM decisions on the acceptance of resignations are to be submitted to the President of the Republic of Moldova.
