Judge Olesea Țurcan of the Râșcani Court of Chisinau is investigated for intentionally passing an illegal judgment. Searches were conducted as part of the investigation, IPN reports.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office said the searches were carried out based on an order made by the prosecuting body, with the authorization of the judge of inquiry, in the presence of the investigated judge. As a result, the prosecutors didn’t find objects and documents related to the examined case. Even so, the judge was classed as a suspect.
“When being questioned, the judge didn’t admit her guilt, asking the prosecuting body to offer her time to prepare her defense position in this case. At the current stage, the judge is not somehow affected by a measure of constraint,” said the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
The judge started to be investigated after the Superior Council of Magistracy gave its consent following an approach made by acting prospector general Dumitru Robu.
