A judge from the Causeni court and the consultant of the same court will stand trial for passive corruption. The two face jail terms of up to 10 years and fines of up to 60,000 lei and will be banned from holding particular posts or carrying out particular activities for two to five years, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In August, the judge and the consultant asked for and received tickets for 300 liters of diesel fuel and 100 liters of gasoline as well as 500 lei for passing decisions to stop administrative lawsuits. The judge used a part of the received goods and passed the mentioned decisions.

At the request of the prosecutor general, the judge was suspended from post for the period of the investigation. The prosecutor general also asked the Supreme Court of Justice to transfer the case to another court of the same level for examination. A decision is yet to be taken.
