The justice sector reform strategy for 2011-2016 was adopted by Parliament by a unanimous vote in second reading on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I’m glad that the strategy was passed unanimously by the lawmakers of the Alliance for European Integration and the opposition. The political class realizes the necessity of reforming the justice sector and takes steps. We are to immediately approve the plan of action for implementing the strategy,” Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim told the press. The Ministry of Justice is working on the bills that are to be implemented during the first reform year. “The EU provided €60 million and the rest of the money will be allocated from the state budget over the next five years. We count on the support of other donors as well. It is easy to collect money from abroad, but we must concentrate our efforts on finding resources in the country,” said the minister. According to Oleg Efrim, the strategy will make clearer the institutional framework for coordinating the reform actions and the assistance offered by the development partners for the justice sector. The implementation of the components of the strategy will contribute to transforming the justice sector into a fair and responsible one that does not tolerate corruption and that will foster the country’s development. The strategy was approved in first reading on November 3.
