The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family calls upon the social assistants to work under alert regime given the expected colder weather. In a news conference on Thursday, Minister Valentina Buliga asked the social workers to go to solitary, elderly, sick and disabled persons at home to see how they live and help them resist the very low temperatures forecast, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The weather services warn that the temperatures the next days will be very low, of around -27 degrees Celsius. We want our common efforts in Moldova’s villages to diminish the circumstances that can lead to different situations,” said Valentina Buliga. She asked that the mayors’ offices analyze the possibility of purchasing wood from the reserve funds for persons who do not have the possibility of heating their homes in this period and of placing the families living in damaged dwellings at social centers or places that are heated, such as kindergartens, schools and medical centers. “We request the social assistants to be operative and go to every home so as to know the situation of every family,” said the minister. The social workers who will not do their job will be held responsible.
