Labor Ministry launches Ten Days of Social Inclusion drive

For many persons with disabilities, the relations in the family, life in the community and employment are only dreams, Minister of Labor Valentina Buliga said in a news conference on Wednesday, announcing the launch of the Ten Days of Social Inclusion drive on November 22, Info-Prim Neo reports. The drive will end on December 3, when it is celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The program of the event includes a music festival, a film festival, sports competitions, conferences, roundtable meetings and other activities aimed at sensitizing the people to the problems faced by the persons with special needs, who do not enjoy the same opportunities as all the other people. “Moldova inherited a complicated system for the social protection of the disabled. Therefore, the reformation of this system is a priority for the Labor Ministry,” Valentina Buliga said. She also said that the social inclusion strategy has been drafted. It will contribute to the reformation of the system so that it guarantees the rights and fundamental freedoms of the disabled. Lilia Cainareanu, the head of the public association “Pro-Tineret”, said the Ten Days of Social Inclusion drive aims to bring the persons with special needs closer to the community. “We will prove that we can also do something,” Cainareanu said, adding: “A change is possible and we will try to bring it.” According to the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, in Moldova there are about 174,000 persons with different disabilities, including 14,800 children.
