The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family launched public discussions on the reformation of the pension system. The reform is aimed at improving the living conditions of the recipients of pensions and at creating an equitable and sustainable mechanism, IPN reports.
Minister of Labor Valentina Buliga said there was drafted a plan of action that contains a series of measures, including the unification of the methods of calculating the pension for all the categories of tax payers, counting public servants, judges and customs employees.
There will be made a feasibility study to establish the opportunity of implementing the system of public social insurance for servicemen, persons from the command body and the troops of the internal affairs bodies. The control measures will be stepped up in order to minimize the practice of illegal salary payment and there will be organized a campaign to inform the people about the necessity of modernizing the pension system.
There were formulated a number of recommendations, including to increase the sources of incomes for pensioners and to reduce the taxes on these incomes in order to encourage the rise in revenues. Valentina Buliga said the proposals for reforming the pension system will be discussed at parliamentary level too.
