The authorities of Chisinau promise the people will be able to sunbathe at the lake in “Valea Morilor” Park next summer. In Monday’s meeting of City Hall officials, Roman Sofroni, head of the Capital Constructions Division, said the works to lay out the beach and pedestrian areas will start next year and will finish at the beginning of summer, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The main works planned at the lake were performed. The banks were reinforced and there was laid a pipe bypassing the Nagornyi rivulet. The park area near the lake is to be laid out,” said Roman Sofroni. According to him, the lake in “Valea Morilor” Park is now 25% filled with water. “There are areas where the water is 2.5 meters. Over 60% of the water will be most probably collected by spring, following the precipitation of autumn and winter,” said Roman Sofroni. He stressed that the weeds growing near the lake represent a problem. “As specialists say, when the lake is populated by fish, the weeds will disappear,” said Roman Sofroni, adding that the fish will be brought to the lake by the end of September. The works at the lake in “Valea Morilor” Park started in 2006, when the water was removed from the lake. But they stopped soon afterward as there was no authorization from the state ecological institutions and no project. The works resumed 2008. More than 41.6 million lei has been so far spent on the rehabilitation of the lake. All the works have been paid and there are no credit debts.
