Last chance for Sheriff and for Steaua

Moldova's football champion Sheriff Tiraspol will play the last but one match of the UEFA Europa League against the famous Romanian club Steaua Bucharest on December 2, Info-Prim Neo reports. Only a victory will enable Sheriff to qualify in the European spring. The Romanian team arrived in Moldova on December 1. Dozens of Moldovan supporters met Steaua at the International Airport Chisinau, creating an incredible atmosphere. The players and the administrators of the Romanian club remained satisfied by the warm welcome. Steaua manager Mihai Stoikitsa said his team will have a last chance to qualify in the European spring. “It will be a difficult match as Sheriff are a well-organized team with an extraordinary game discipline. They are in a good form and have nothing to lose. But we also want a victory,” he said in a news conference. Sheriff manager Leonid Kuchuk said Steaua have improved their game. “They are more dynamic and better coordinate the game. They are serious adversaries, but we will defend ourselves and attack,” the manager said. Fenerbahce Turkey head the rankings in Europa League group H with 9 points. They are followed by Twente Olanda with 7 points, Sheriff Tiraspol with 4 points and Steaua Bucharest with 2 points. The Sheriff versus Steaua match will be played in Tiraspol on December 2, starting at 20.05. It will be refereed by Norway's Tommy Skjerven.
