The Moldovan athletes, who have participated in the last days of the London Summer Olympics, will arrive home on Wednesday, August 15. Coming along are Deputy Minister of Youth Octavian Bodisteanu, and National Olympic Committee president Nicolae Juravschi. The information was given by Ghenadie Vasilache, head of the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, for Info-Prim Neo. According to Ghenadie Vasilache, the athletes will receive the Government prizes in 3 weeks at most. For the first time, this year athletes that have ranked in the top 12 will be rewarded. Until now, only the top 8 scorers were being rewarded. Additionally, rewards will go to trainers and technical staff, i.e. to those who have contributed to the athletes’ performance. The two bronze medalists, weightlifters Cristina Iovu and Anatol Ciricu, the youngest participant, 15-year-old archer Dan Olaru, boxer Vasile Belous, athletes Natalia Cerchez and Olesea Cojuhari, have returned from the Olympics on August 8. Beside the medalists, good results at the Olympics were achieved by athletes Zalina Marghiev, having ranked 8th, Ion Luchianov – ranked 10th, judoka Sergiu Toma, boxer Vasile Belous and archer Dan Olaru, have been eliminated in the eighth-finals. When summed their prizes total at over 6 million lei. Additionally, it has been previously mentioned that Premier Vlad Filat will gift an apartment to each Olympic medalist.
