The mobile number portability will be commercially launched on July 1, two months later than planned. The network and service providers asked the national regulator ANRCETI to give them more time for finishing the changes in the systems for charging calls to ported numbers, IPN reports.
The technical launch of the mobile number portability will take place on May 1 so as to adjust the informatics systems and test their interaction. The service will become accessible to clients in two months.
The mobile number portability enables mobile telephone users to retain their mobile telephone numbers when changing from one mobile network operator to another. When the service is launched, any telephone user will be able to benefit from it within five workdays of the submission of an application to the provider to whose network they want the phone number to be ported.
Before the commercial launch, a special website on mobile number portability will be launched for the telephone users.
The service is available in all the 27 member states of the European Union.
