The limits of alcoholemy that shows the state of inebriation – minimum or advanced – has been extended by a bill that was passed by Parliament in the second reading, IPN reports.

The lowest inebriation level was extended from “0.8 g/l” to “1.0 g/l of alcohol in blood” and from “0.15 to 0.4 mg/l” concentration of vapors of alcohol in exhaled air.

The highest inebriation level was raised from “0.8 g/l and more” to “1.0 g/l and more”, while the phrase that refers to the concentration of vapors of alcohol in exhaled air was changed “from 0.4 mg/l and more” to “0.5 mg/l and more”.

The penalty for driving under the influence of alcohol is a fine of 3,000 lei and ban on driving a vehicle for two to three years.

The bill says the driver’s state of inebriation is established only by alcoholoscopic test.
