The leaders of the factions of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) are ready to approve the draft municipal budget for 2013, which was included in the agenda of the February 14 meeting. However, the Communist faction said they will vote for the budget only if the amendments they will propose are accepted. The representatives of the factions consider that the situation created at central level will not influence the situation at local level. Liberal faction head Ion Gabura has told Info-Prim Neo that the Liberal councilors will attend the meeting. He expressed his confidence that the other factions will also come. “The meeting will definitely take place as all the problematic issues were removed and there is only one item left – the 2013 budget,” said Ion Gabura. Communist councilor Victor Gurau said the Communist faction will be present at the meeting, as always. “We realized that we must take part in debates. We will submit again proposals for improving the quality of the main document that is approved by the Council. Depending on the discussions and proposed amendments, we will decide whether to vote for the budget or not,” said the councilor. As regards the tensions at central level, he said that the ruling oligarchic groups are settling accounts, but the Communist faction has nothing to do with the happenings. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the leader of the Liberal-Democratic faction Ghenadie Dumnaschi said he does not think that the crisis at central level will influence the situation in the CMC. His faction colleagues assured him they will attend the meeting and will support the 2013 budget, as they did in the previous meetings. The meeting starts at 10.00. The approval of the draft municipal budget for 2013 in the first reading is the only item in the agenda.
