Prime Minister designate Iurie Leanca will present the government program and the nominal composition of the future executive in Parliament on May 30.
Ion Creanga, head of the Parliament’s Legal Division, has told IPN that according to the official procedures, the nominated candidate files an application to Parliament, asking for a vote of confidence and for the approval of the government program. After the parliamentary commissions examine the report, the legal commission for appointments and immunities renders a report on the issue in Parliament.
After the candidate presents the program, the lawmakers can put questions to him, while representatives of the parliamentary groups can give speeches to make known the group’s position. The candidates for the posts of minister must obligatorily attend the sitting.
The MPs then vote openly. The Government is invested by at least 51 votes of MP.
The head of state is not obliged to attend the sitting. However, in the evening of May 29 President Nicolae Timofti informed the Parliament’s Standing Bureau that he wants to deliver a speech before the lawmakers in today’s sitting.
The previous Government headed by the Liberal-Democrat Vlad Filat was dismissed by a censure motion on March 5.
