The Ministry of Environment is formulating amendments to the legislation on environment. These provide that the dolphinariums will be allowed to work only if they secure seawater and ensure thus a habitual environment for dolphins, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry, such provisions are applied all over Europe and all the dolphinariums, no matter where they are located – in towns on the bank of the sea or ocean or in the center of the old continent – use only seawater. In such conditions, the life expectancy of dolphins increases several times, while the dolphins kept in ‘faucet’ water, as those from Chisinau, live short and are replaced once in two-three years.

The Ministry said that special attention has been devoted during the last few years to the protection of animals when these are held in zoological gardens, dolphinariums and other confined places.
