Length of service required for men to get pensions extended by six months

The length of service required in the case of men before these can retire and get old-age pension will be by six months longer from July 1, 2016. The men who intend to retire after July 1, 2016 must confirm a length of service of 33 years, IPN has learned from the National House of Social Insurance.

Under the amendments made to the Law on State Social Instance Pensions, from July 1, 2011 the length of service required for men to get an old age pension has been annually raised by six months, until it reaches 35 in 2020.

The length of service for men is annually increased by six months, while the length of service for women remains unchanged. To receive an old-age pension in the full amount, the women must confirm a length of service of 30 years. A length of service of at least 15 years is required in the case of men and women for setting a partial pension.

In Moldova, the retirement age for women is now 57, while for men is 62.
