Minister of Education Leonid Bujor will pay a working visit to Bucharest on Friday, March 19. The minister told Info-Prim Neo that he will find out the detailed program of the visit on Friday morning, but he knows he will have a meeting with Romanian Minister of Education, Research, Youth and Sport Daniel Petru Funeriu.
Leonid Bujor said they will discuss a number of issues concerning the signing of the protocol of cooperation in education between Moldova and Romania. According to him, the document will focus mainly on the exchange of students and cooperation in research. “We count on our Romanian friends' support,” he said.
Special groups of the Moldovan and Romanian Education Ministries are working on the future protocol. Earlier, Leonid Bujor said the protocol will provide for increasing the number of Moldovan young people studying in Romania and vice versa.
The subject of cooperation in eduction and research between the Governments of Moldova and Romania was raised by Romanian President Traian Basescu while in Moldova on a working visit late in January.
Traian Basescu said the number of Moldovans studying at high schools and universities in Romania could be increased to 5,000, as against 3,400 at present.
