A number of officials received an email accompanied by a fake letter attributed to the European Commission, which contains particular nstructions for Moldovan civil servants, noting, for example, among other things, that civil servants must mandatorily know English in order to continue their work in the public service. The Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă said the entire communication between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union is conducted strictly through official channels, and such emails must be reported as fakes, IPN reports.

The spokesman noted that the entire content of this letter is false and does not belong to the institution to which it claims to belong. All the email addresses that received this spam have been identified. “I saw that it goes to the attribution of a false identity. An equally false email was used and this fake was made - a letter that, by the way, promotes particular narratives that I have been hearing in the public space,” stated Daniel Vodă.

The Government’s spokesman urged the officials who receive suspicious messages to report them to specialized IT services. Private companies or other companies that receive this spam or other content that may be false are asked not to hesitate to report it to block the addresses from which it came and not to react in any way when these fakes are confirmed.
