MP Valeriu Munteanu, vice-president of the Liberal Party, submitted a legislative proposal to the Permanent Bureau of the Parliament to change the customs rules for vehicles and their registration, Info-Prim Neo reports. Valeriu Munteanu claims that the recent changes to the Customs Code tightened the conditions for natural persons using vehicles older than 7 years in Moldova, placing them in temporary admission customs regime. Increased taxes for import customs regime is another blow to natural persons. “In order to avoid hurting those who own cars with foreign plates, placed under temporary admission customs regime, we propose a derogation norm, that would allow their placement under import customs regime”, Munteanu mentioned. Owners of cars with Lithuanian and Bulgarian plates staged two protests after the new amendments to the Customs Code had been approved. Until April 4, imported cars older than 7 years had to be removed from the country after 3 months, but drivers could return the same day. Now this is no longer possible.
