20 million lei for next year's Budget are reserved for repairing libraries. Minister of Culture Boris Focsa told Info-Prim Neo that is the first time when the Government allocates money specifically for repairing library buildings. Until now, the money were generally given for cultural purposes, reports Info-Prim Neo.
According the Minister, there has never been a development strategy for libraries. “We managed to see to use of libraries in every commune and pay greater attention to them”, underlined Boris Focsa. Moldova has a total of over 1,300 libraries, many of which require general repairs.
Meanwhile, the Minister mentioned that an increase was also made to the sum allocated by the Government for cultural projects. Until now it was made up of 700,000 lei, and will rise up to 2 million in 2013. “We are waiting for interesting, special projects from NGOs, since only they can participate in contests for financing culture promotion projects”, said the Minister.
Next year's Budget also reserves money for the renovation of the National Art Museum, which has been undergoing repairs for several years. Renovation works at the Organ Hall are also planned to be completed in two years.
