A 53-year-old woman died from carbon monoxide poisoning in a fire that happened in a building on Ismail St in Orhei town on May 4 in the evening. Alexandru Oprea, deputy head of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the neighbors saw smoke coming out of the windows of an apartment and called the firefighters. The body of the woman who was renting the apartment was found in one of the rooms. The first investigations showed the fire was caused by a burning cigarette. The 706 fires that happened in Moldova since the start of this year resulted in 91persons dead, including a child. The number of fires decreased by 10% compared with the corresponding period last year. However, the number of persons who died in fires rose by 11%.
