The trainers of athletes who medaled at the Olympic or Paralympic Games, senior world or European championships will get a monthly lifetime allowance after they retire as of January 1, 2019. Parliament adopted relevant amendment to the Law on Physical Education and Sport after giving them a final reading, IPN reports.
The lifetime allowance will be paid to trainers who are citizens of Moldova, worked for at least 20 years and during their career trained athletes who achieved remarkable results at international level. The coaches should live in Moldova when they file an application.
Currently, there are about 10 trainers who meet the mentioned conditions and will benefit from such allowances.
The allowance will be of different sizes and will depend on the results achieved by the trained athletes. For example, for the first gold medal won at Olympic Games, the trainer will get a monthly allowance equal to an average official salary, for the first silver medal – to 0.9 average salaries and for the first bronze medal – to 0.8. The allowance for the first gold medal won at world championships will also be equal to 0.9 average salaries.
