Representatives of the local public administration (LPA) say that decentralization and guaranteed local autonomy are needed to solve the problems they face, including in managing the financial and human resources. The issue was discussed in the general assembly of the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova that involved Prime Minister Pavel Filip, IPN reports.
In the assembly, the representatives of the LPA spoke about the necessity of depoliticizing the local administration. The Premier proposed establishing a communication platform for maintaining a dialogue between the central and local public administration. He said effort will be made for a part of the 2016 Road Fund to be used for rehabilitating local roads.
Pavel Filip underlined the role of the mayors and district heads, saying these bear responsibility for the state of affairs in their communities. “I ask you to consider me as a dialogue partner. We can openly discuss the common problems. I count a lot on your experience in managing affairs in our towns and districts,” he stated.
The general assembly of the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova was held the fifth consecutive year. The event involved most of the mayors of Moldova and representatives of public authorities of other states.
