A long- and medium-term strategic view on diaspora and migration will be drafted in Moldova. Such a decision was taken by the inter-ministerial committee on diaspora, migration and development on October 12. The event, staged by the State Chancellery through the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, brought together representatives of the central public administration and development partners, IPN reports.
The goal of the first meeting was to familiarize the participants with the mechanism of coordinating the state policy on diaspora, migration and development. The committee was entrusted with the task of formulating the long- and medium-term strategic view on diaspora and migration, validating the development strategies and plans and ensuring the implementation of the measures stipulated in the Government’s national development programs.
In the discussions, the Government’s secretary general Valentin Guznac expressed his conviction that the newly created platform will ensure the efficient communication and coordination of the policies in the field, increasing thus the positive effects of international migration on sustainable development in Moldova.
Head of the International Organization for Migration Mission in Chisinau Antonio Polosa said the Republic of Moldova made significant progress in developing the view and the normative framework for ensuring the practical integration of migration into the national development strategies.
The inter-ministerial committee on diaspora, migration and development was constituted on September 8. The platform consists of representatives with administrative duties of the ministries and authorities of the central public administration.
