Head of Parliament Marian Lupu, who leads the Democratic Party, insists on the zero variant, which means the resignation of Prime Minister Vlad Filat and his resignation from the post of Speaker. He didn’t change his mind even after President Nicolae Timofti called on the leaders of the ruling parties to renounce the statements and mutual accusations made earlier and to return to the negotiating table, Info-Prim Neo reports.
After the February 27 meeting of the Parliament’s Standing Bureau, Marian Lupu said that he welcomes the head of state’s call. “I approve of the efforts made by the President and of his attempts to normalize the situation somehow. Since February 13 (when the PLDM announced its withdrawal from the AEI, e.n.), we have promoted the ‘zero variant’ position. This position is justified. We take into account the necessity of justice, not telephone justice, prevailing in this country,“ the Head of Parliament told the press.
In reaction to Marian Lupu’s statements, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that his party stated its stance and each of them is to decide how to act. “I will make everything possible for Moldova to avoid early elections,” he said after the Government’s meeting.
Earlier this week, the Democrats said there is no way back and they will enter the talks only after Vlad Filat resigns. The Premier stated he will not resign at the Democratic Party’s request because he does not intend to capitulate to the mafia.
