If the Party of Socialists does not accept the formation of a minority government assumed by the bloc ACUM as a solution, snap elections will take place, the president of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu, co-president of the bloc ACUM, was quoted by IPN as saying in the program “In Depth” on Pro TV channel.
“If the Party of Socialists is not ready to analyze even the first step and to vote particular laws in Parliament, including the law to replace the electoral system, knowing very well what the mixed electoral system means in the current conditions as they experienced this firsthand, it will definitely lose more. We could also lose, but it is they who should provide an answer,” stated the politician.
Maia Sandu noted the strategy of the bloc ACUM is to avoid snap elections or, at least, for these to be organized based on the proportional representation system if they take place. “And we can do this and can vote for this in Parliament,” she stated.
According to Sandu, the appointment of a Parliament Speaker on behalf of the bloc ACUM is the first element of the measures planned for freeing the state. And the PSRM should take the first step here. “The Socialists are those who should prove that they have courage and are committed to fight against the oligarchic system,” stated the co-president of ACUM.
Maia Sandu noted the bloc will issue no other invitation to discussions to the Party of Socialists as they do not see what the bloc ACUM can discuss with the PSRM given that the two entities now speak about different things. “We are interested strictly in de-oligarchization subject. The Socialists should also not come up with another agenda than the fight against oligarchy, but they propose something else,” she said.
