President Maia Sandu said that it is our duty as citizens of this country, as patriots of this nation not to allow to be manipulated and provoked, not to allow to be used by those who want war and chaos. Those who promote and justify the war should be harshly penalized. “The people who justify the killing of Ukrainians at their homes are dangerous to society and to peace in the country,” stated the official, being quoted by IPN.
In a press briefing, President Sandu said that Russia launched a massive rocket attack on civilian targets in a number of regions of Ukraine. The bombs fell on office buildings, houses, intersections in the center of cities and other critical civil infrastructure objects, killing and injuring tens of people. Other hundreds of thousands remained without electricity and drinking water. The bombarding and killing of innocent people who lived an ordinary Monday is a war crime in a long list of crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine.
“We strongly condemn these crimes. Several of the 84 missiles launched by Russia against Ukraine illegally crossed the airspace of the Republic of Moldova, through the districts from the left side of the Nistru and above the districts of Florești and Soroca. It is a flagrant violation of our airspace and of the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova by the Russian armed forces,” said President Sandu.
The Republic of Moldova is a peaceful country. “We said this every time and every time we proved this by actions. We respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of other states and demand that our borders should also be respected. We do our best to keep peace and quietness in the country but the pressure to which we are exposed increases each day. The attempts to divide us, to destabilize the situation in the country are more frequent and are expanding,” stated the official.
“Who these people serve? Definitely not the Republic of Moldova. We will not allow the situation in the country to be destabilized. We will not allow society to be split and will not allow hatred to be incited. The destabilization attempts we have witnessed in the recent past are made by the grouping for stealing and war, which is afraid of jail and is ready to set fire to the country in order to save its skin.
“The members of this grouping want to avoid jail for the thefts committed in the past and to revive the corruption schemes. They try to use the difficult situation in which the country is now due to the war in Ukraine to destabilize it and to cause chaos. They want to create conflict situations in different regions of the country so as to divide us. They aim to come to power so much that they promise Moscow to disrupt constitutional order and to establish a government through which Russia could use our country in the war. I tell them clearly - don’t have illusions.”
