A man and a woman who last summer killed a female taxi driver aged 34 were sentenced to jail. The victim was found dead in a vineyard near Ialoveni town.
According to prosecutors, the culprits ordered a taxi to Comrat town and on the road attacked the taxi driver with a kitchen knife, killing her. In order to hide the crime, they set the car on fire, stealing first two mobile phones, an Ipod and 3,000 lei from the vehicle, IPN reports.
The 33-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for intentional murder, robbery, car theft and attempt to destroy property. The woman, who was his accomplice, got 15 years behind bars. The court also ordered that the culprits pay 190,000 lei damages to the successor of the killed woman.
