Man drowns after getting stuck in fishing net

A 63-year-old man from Zagarancea village of Ungheni district drowned in the local pond after he got stuck in the fishing net. The body was recovered several hours later, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo. Employees of the Zagarancea mayor’s office said the man set the net earlier and went to take it out on Tuesday evening, but got stuck. There was nobody nearby to help him. The man was married and had three sons. The youngest of them was 28. According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, 114 persons have drowned in Moldova’s ponds and lakes so far this year. Eleven of the victims were children.
