A 33-year-old man from Soroca town was sentenced to 10 years in jail for extortion. According to the prosecutors, this winter the convict sent messages from his mobile phone to the phone of the head of a Soroca company, threatening him with use of violence, destruction of property and kidnapping of his relatives if he did not give him €10,000. Being a gambler and knowing that the company head had money, the man decided to enrich himself, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Prosecutor General's Office. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
