A man aged 21 from Drochia was sentenced to 21 years in jail for trafficking in children and procuring. The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said the young man admitted his guilt and a simplified procedure was applied in his case, with the punishment being reduced and life imprisonment being excluded, IPN reports.
The five victims asked by 100,000 lei each in respect of non-pecuniary damage. The court ordered that the man should pay by 20,000 lei to the victims, which is a total of 100,000.
The investigated deeds were committed in Chisinau last September-December, when the convicted young man persuaded teenage girls who came into contact with him directly or by recommendation to provide sexual services.
The girls come from families with a precarious financial situation whom the man assured they will enjoy protection. The victims got half of the remuneration of 500-700 lei per client for sexual intercourse of half an hour. In some of the cases, the girls didn’t obtain any money.
The victims are aged 15 and 17 and were identified in Chisinau, Căușeni and Ungheni. The minors remained without parental supervision and were vulnerable. The sixth victim who was persuaded to prostitute herself was 18 and she, for her part, recommended some of the trafficked girls to the defendant.
