Man gets 18 years for murder attempt

A man was sentenced to 18 years in jail for attempting to murder a police officer and for theft, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) says in a communiqué, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to the PG., last winter the man, who is native of Rudi, Soroca, stole a bicycle from the yard of a co-villager. During the arrest, the thief put up resistance and stabbed a policeman with a kitchen knife in the head and neck for several times, hurting him seriously. He thought the police officer was dead and left him to lie at the place of the crime. Earlier, the man served 15 years for committing similar offenses.
