Man held over stone attack on reporter in Balti

Police arrested a man who is suspected of injuring a female reporter by throwing a stone to her head during a clash in Balti on Sunday among participants in a march for unification with Romania and counter-demonstrators, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Ministry of Interior said in a press release that the attack occurred at around 3:30pm on Pushkin Street. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the 26-year-old stone-thrower, under which he faces up to 5 years in prison. During the altercations, a police officer was also injured. The suspect was arrested and is now under investigation, facing 180 to 240 hours of community work or up to 3 years in prison. Further evidence is being collected to hold answerable other people responsible for instigating or causing violence that led to the disruption of Sunday's authorized and peaceful procession in Balti.
