A man killed and two were injured as a result of an incident with gunfire at a car parts shop in Stauceni commune of Chisinau municipality on February 17. The fire was opened by the shop owner.
Chisinau deputy prosecutor Corneliu Bratunov has told IPN that when a group of people entered the shop and started to use violence against shop assistants, the owner, together with another two persons, barricaded themselves in an office on the second floor. When the individuals broke the window and entered the office, the owner fired from his pistol that he owns legally. Three of the men who attacked the shop assistants were hurt. One of them was found dead later at a gas station nearby.
The shop owner was questioned. He is investigated outside jail and the right of self-defense will be taken into account in his case. Two persons were arrested. The others who were involved in this case are yet to be identified. The man who died and those hurt, who are now in the hospital, have a criminal record. Settling of an old score in this case is not excluded.
Two criminal cases have been started so far, over murder and hooliganism.
