A Cahul man was sentenced to jail for premeditated murder committed with extreme cruelty. The tragedy happened a year ago in the Ialoveni district, IPN learned from a press release of the Prosecutor General's Office.
The investigation found that the suspect hitchhiked a ride to Chisinau. In Ialoveni, he asked the driver to stop. When they got out of the car, he stabbed the driver a couple of times, killing him on the spot. Then he took the victim's car and left. The police caught him later that day.
It seems the murderer simply took the car and went home, where he was found by the police.
The 22 year old man was sentenced to 24 years in jail. The court also ruled that he must pay the victim's successors 50,000 lei. The sentence may be appealed.
