Man who injured three women from airgun was drunk and having fun with three friends

The man who fired an airgun and injured three women in Chisinau yesterday is from a village of Orhei district. The 26-year-old man was together with three friends in the car of one of them. The car had a Transnistrian license number. The young men drank alcohol and went out to enjoy themselves. The police caught them several hours after the incident, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on May 12, Deputy Minister of the Interior Iurie Cheptanaru said the airgun was found in the car during the search. The investigators presume it was purchased in one of the four gun shops of Chisinau. There were several pellets nearby. “These are guns for target shooting and do not require the authorization of the Ministry of the Interior. They are sold in specialized shops and everyone can purchase them,” deputy minister said. In this connection, Iurie Cheptanaru stressed that a bill on the improvement of control over guns will be submitted to the Government within 10 days. The four young men, two of whom are brothers, are held at the police commissariat of Ciocana district. They face three to seven years behind bars. The injured women are aged 23, 24 and 34. Two of them were injured in the leg, while the third in the arm. They were in different areas of Chisinau. They are now out of danger.
