Man who struck two elderly persons fatally by car has criminal record

The man who hit an elderly man and his wife by car in Vorniceni village of Straseni district two days ago had earlier committed other offenses, say prosecutors. In a communique quoted by Info-Prim Neo, the Prosecutor General's Office says that in September the court fined him 10,000 lei for using violence against police officers after committing a theft. The prosecutors considered the penalty was too mild and appealed it, demanding that the offender be imprisoned. One month later, the man was caught driving under the influence. The car accident in Vorniceni happened on October 17 in the morning. The husband and wife aged 80 and, respectively, 79 were found dead near the Culture Club. The driver was identified later. According to the police, the man was inebriated and was speeding when he struck the two persons by his car.
