Marian Lupu: I assure you I will be a responsible President

“I assure you I will be a responsible President and a President for all the people of Moldova. I will treat everyone with respect and appreciation, regardless of the political sympathies,” the head of the PDM Marian Lupu said in a press briefing, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Marian Lupu’s application and the other required documents were filed to the special commission for the organization of the presidential elections by the PDM’s deputy head Igor Corman on December 12. Marian Lupu said he had the medical examination last week, while his ability to hold such a post has been tested during the last few months while serving as Acting President. He said he applied for the presidency because he is convinced that Moldova needs stability and prosperity and the election of the head of state is the first step towards the country’s modernization. “I think we must bring this long row of ambiguities in politics to an end and govern the country for the people’s benefit,” said the leader of the PDM. Speaking about the internal policy objectives, the Democratic leader said the country needs more workplaces and more funds for supporting the young people and looking after the elderly, a healthy environment that would provide equal changes on the market, a fair justice and a free and independent press. At foreign level, the head of state must continue to promote Moldova’s European integration course, in close cooperation with its partners from the EU and the Eurasian area. The legislative body is to elect the head of state on December 16. Only Marian Lupu has so far submitted the documents needed to be registered as a candidate for the presidency.
