Marian Lupu: Independence Day is an occasion to reassert the values that unite us

“The independence of Moldova has provided the opportunity to decide our own fate and set this country's development course in a free and democratic way. Independence Day is the best occasion to reassert the values that unite us Moldovans as citizens of this country: the love for the country, for our traditions, and the respect for our identity, freedom and dignity of the citizen, the confidence in the triumph of democracy, the determination to proceed on the path of progress toward the bright future that we undoubtedly deserve. We believe in these values, but we are also aware that only by respecting them can we become more prosperous”, acting President Marian Lupu stated in his speech opening the parade dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Moldova's independence on August 27, as quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The President noted that the Moldovan people went through many difficult trials, but despite all historical adversities, our forefathers didn't surrender the privilege to be free. “We continue to advance on the path of independence, paying tribute to those who made our past and present. We shall not forget the heroes who defended our ancestral dignity, our faith and culture that we enjoy today”. Marian Lupu recalled that our Constitution states that Moldova is a neutral country and declared that it's going to stay like that. Marian Lupu also observed that Moldova is a beautiful country that should offer its people decent living conditions. “This is our country and we are proud of it. I wish every citizen to be worthy and proud of the fact that Moldova is an independent country, and that we live in a free, democratic society that has engaged to advance on the path of European integration. I congratulate you on the 20th anniversary of Moldova”, stated Marian Lupu in concluding his parade speech.
