Head of Parliament Marian Lupu proposed that Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco should be questioned in a closed-door meeting on October 27. He made the proposal in today’s sitting after the head of the Liberal-Democratic group Valeriu Strelet requested the Speaker to put to the vote the inclusion of the issue concerning the dismissal of Zubco in the agenda, Info-Prim Neo reports. Marian Lupu suggested that the prosecutor should be questioned in a closed-door meeting so that the MPs could put any types of questions and receive answers without the investigations being affected. The lawmakers have access even to state secrets and are banned from revealing them. Valeriu Strelet said he backs the proposal, but Valeriu Zubco should present a detailed report, including on the work done by the Prosecutor General’s Office during two years. Valeriu Strelet also said that the Liberal-Democrat lawmakers prepared a bill that describes the procedure for dismissing the prosecutor general. It may be put to the vote at the next sitting of the legislative body.
