Prosecutor Mariana Cherpec is the new member of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP). She occupied the post following Olesa Varlan’s resignation on March 4, IPN reports.
SCP member Elena Roșior said that the prosecutors on the list of candidates who are not promoted to the position of SCP member become alternative candidates for the posts for which they applied. They fill the vacancy that appears during their tenure in the descending order of the number of votes gathered at the General Assembly of Prosecutors.
The SCP’s decision is to be sent to the acting prosecutor general for launching the administrative procedures related to the secondment, as from March 18, of the alternative prosecutor in the SCP Mariana Cherpec.
Mariana Cherpec has been working in the prosecution service since 2010.
