The national academic folk dances ensemble “Joc” closed the 53rd International Music Festival “Martsishor” with a choreographic performance entitled “Calush (Horse) Zodiacal Sign” on March 10, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Ministry of Culture and Research said the dancers impressed by their costumes, choreographic complexity and remarkable performance. There were presented dances of Oași and of Codru, Trans-Carpathian and Bukovina dances and the famous choreographic poem “Wedding”, in the 1974 production of Vladimir Curbet.
The performance held at the National Palace involved soloists Radu Banariuc, Ion Coțuc, Alexandru Focșa, Marin Gheras and special invitees Efim Zubritski from France and Răzvan Stoica from Romania.
The International Music Festival “Martsishor 2019” was held during March 1-10 and consisted of 47 performances, 25 of which were staged in Chisinau. The festival involved the folk music orchestra “Lăutarii”, the Presidential Orchestra, the bands “Brio Sonores”, “Alex Calancea Band”, “Fluieraș”, “Folclor”, “Plăieșii”, “Cadânjea”, “Rodoliubie”, the National Chamber Orchestra and also such famous foreign artists and bands as “Joy”, “Klezmer Swing Quartett”, “Baccara”, “Uriah Heep”, Pupo, Goran Bregovici, “Shenzhen Aihua Chinese Music Ensemble”, “Holograf”, Gabriel Dorobanțu and “Mirage”.
The budget of the festival this year exceeded 2.6 million lei. Ticket prices varied between 50 and 1,100 lei.
