Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca demands uniformity in the projects of mansard construction on apartment blocks in the capital in order to avoid conflicts. According to him, building mansards is a good project, necessary for the city’s development, but until now, mistakes slipped through, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The risk is that a good initiative may be discredited, because things are done “the Moldovan way”, due to companies that can’t get enough square meters. They initially say they will build a one-level mansard and then they build a two-level mansard. This is crossing the limit and all these irregularities lead to conflicts like that on Neculce Street 8/2. In order to avoid such situations, we need more uniformity in the project so that there were some limits imposed on this kind of constructions”, the Mayor declared during the City Hall operative meeting.
Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu added that the construction of mansards solves the problems of water drainage, changing communication lines in the block and disposing adjacent territory. He stressed that although some legal aspects needed to be reviewed, the works should continue, because they change the city’s aspect.
The head of the Planning and Housing Division Petru Gontea said that there were less companies applying to build mansards, while the number of tenants agreeing to the construction of mansards was growing. “We shouldn’t give up these works because they are for the benefit of tenants. The blocks where mansards are built, benefit of full repairs and the company allots 150,000 lei for the repair of a block entrance. Moreover, we have been recently demanding the installation of façade heating and the changing of the waste pipes and of the staircase coating”, he said.
Until the end of the year, about 30 apartment blocks will have their mansards finished. Works will continue in other 100 blocks. In two weeks, a meeting between tenants, experts and companies’ representatives will be organized to discuss a minimum package of works required by the City Hall for the construction of mansards. These works include changing pipes, repairing stairs, changing entrance doors, painting, thermal insulation, managing the block courtyard, etc.
