The mayor of Cimiseni village of Criuleni district will be tried for blackmail. The prosecutors accuse him of trying to come into possession of a number of plots owned by a man by threatening him with death, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
As he was unable to achieve his goal, in March the mayor went to the bar owned by the family of the man and, continuing the threats, hit him with a chair in the head. The victim was hospitalized with brain injury.
The mayor of Bahmut, Calarasi is also accused of blackmail as well as hooliganism. According to the prosecutors, he forms part of an organized criminal group that attempted to dispossess a number of persons of expensive possessions. The criminal case is examined by the Centru district court.
