Peter Kurz, the Mayor General of the German town of Mannheim, expressed readiness to initiate a number of projects with Chisinau city. The mayor came to Moldova to participate in the events organized on the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall and of the signing of the twinning agreement between Chisinau and Mannheim, Info-Prim Neo reports. On this occasion, Peter Kurz took part in Monday's meeting of the Chisinau City Hall. He said that when discussing with Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca he realized that the Chisinau administration does not have autonomy to implement projects necessary for the city. At the same time, the pubic infrastructure is a major problem for Chisinau as well as for the entire Moldova as it must provide services of a high quality for the people. He also said that the civil society should engage in Chisinau's public life. Dorin Chirtoaca said that he followed attentively the presentation of Mannheim given by the German mayor. Mannheim has a tractor factory, TV set factory, cardboard factory, trolleybus assembly plant, etc. Chisinau does not have many of these facilities, Chirtoaca said. According to the mayor of Chisinau, the Berlin Wall can be be compared with the Nistru, which divided Moldova in two parts. The country will be reunified when the right bank of the Nistru reaches the same condition as the Federal Germany. Then, the people living on the left bank of the Nistru would want the 'wall' to fall. Peter Kurz is to visit Mihail Kogalniceanu high school, the Oncology Institute, SA Apa-Canal and the wastewater treatment station.
