A number of mayors of Hancesti district called upon the central authorities not to dismiss commissioner Victor Moraru, who was suspended after an incident that happened on November 3, Info-Prim Neo reports. Valentina Gak, executive director of the Hancesti Local Association of Mayors, told a news conference on December 3 that the life of the commissioner of Hancesti was divided into two parts: before and after November 3, when he was accused of behaving aggressively in a public place. According to Valentina Gak, the press reported the case from a single angle, creating thus a negative image to the commissioner. Thirty-four mayors of Hancesti district signed a petition and filed it to the Ministry of the Interior, showing their support for Victor Moraru. Andrei Litvac, a member of the Council of Veterans of the Hancesti Police Commissariat, said the police officers need a strong health and character to be able to cope with many difficult situations. He also said that he knows Victor Moraru as an educated man who is not able to attack somebody. According to him, the mayor of Hancesti Alexandru Botnaru is interested in denigrating the commissioner because he is not on friendly terms with him. Mayor of Carpineni village Ion Carpineanu said it is evident that Victor Moraru made a mistake for which he should be punished disciplinarily, but not fired. Since Moraru took up his duties as commissioner, the image of the district police changed a lot. The police commissariats were modernized and outfitted with modern equipment. Mayor of Boghiceni village Ion Olishevski said that Victor Moraru is a professional. Since his appointment as commissioner in 2012, all the 19 vacancies of sector police officer had been filled. Ion Olishevski stated that a police officer is not recognized as a good specialist only because he drank a glass of wine and this leads to the loss of a professional. The Ministry of the Interior launched an internal inquiry into this case. While in a public place on November 3, the commissioner and a colleague of his showed an aggressive behavior and used rude words. The two were suspended. Reportedly, they were under the influence of alcohol.
